FlaxFarm Vertical Farming System Manual
Applicable for both FlaxFarm 35 and FlaxFarm 60.
01. Introduction
Welcome to the FlaxFarm Vertical Farming System!
This manual provides instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your FlaxFarm system, designed for growing leafy greens, herbs, and microgreens.
FlaxFarms are designed to work with Vegger PlantPods.
02. Safety Instructions
01. Do not lean on the farm
Avoid pushing, pulling, or climbing on the vertical farm structure.
02. Do not stand on the shelves
This can cause damage and instability.
03. Harvesting and Maintenance
Ensure no leaves, roots, or debris are left in the water. Residual materials can cause overflow or block water pipes.
04. Water Filters
Clean water filters on each level every three months by removing and washing them.
05. Keep Clean
Maintain the cleanliness of trays and the farm body.
06. Do not add materials
Only use the provided nutrient solutions and PlantPods.
07. Damaged Components
Do not operate if cables, lights, or any components are damaged.
08. Consumption
Only consume plants grown in Vegger PlantPods. Do not drink the nutrient solution or consume substrate ingredients.
09. Photobiological Safety
The Philips GreenPower LED production module 3.1 used in FlaxFarm is classified as Risk Group 2 according to IEC/EN 62471. This means it is safe under normal use, but do not stare directly at the operating light source when being closer than 1 meter to the light source.
10. Thermal Protection
The ambient operating temperature range of the luminaire is 0 – 40 °C. If the temperature exceeds this range, the system will automatically dim or switch off the lights to prevent damage. Do not heat up the body of FlaxFarm.
11. For Indoor Use Only
FlaxFarms are not suited for outdoor use.
03. Setup Instructions
01. Electrical Connection
Plug the electricity cable into a suitable power outlet.
02. Water Tank Setup
- Manual Filling: Fill the water tank with water until it reaches the maximum level indicated.
- Automatic Filling: Connect the water inlet hose to a tap. Open the tap to fill the tank. The water will stop flowing once the tank is full. Close the tap. Repeat this process when the water level reaches the empty mark.
03. Powering On
Turn on the main power button located on the distribution box. This activates the device controller, and the preinstalled program will manage the water pump, LED lights, and air circulation pumps for optimal plant growth.
04. Planting
Place Vegger PlantPods in the designated spots on the trays at each level. Cover empty spots with Vegger PlantCovers to prevent algae growth.
05. Harvesting and Replanting
When a plant is harvested, remove the PlantPod and replace it with a new one.
06. Water Discharge
Every Three Months: Discharge water using the drainage pump.
- Connect the provided discharge hose to the water tank.
- Place the other end of the discharge hose into a drainage hole or water sink.
- Turn on the drainage pump from the distribution box.
- Once the water is emptied, turn off the drainage pump using the button on the distribution box.
- Follow the steps for adding water to refill the water tank.
04. Adjusting the Timer Using the Buttons
FlaxFarms come pre-adjusted and ready to use. The following steps are only necessary if you wish to change the preset timings. Adjustments can be made using the Save’n Carry App or manually by a technician.
01. Wake Up the Timer
Press the s/t button to wake up the timer. The display will turn on.
02. Select Language (if necessary)
- Use the r/q buttons to select the desired language.
- Confirm by pressing s.
03. Set Date and Time
The timer is pre-set with the current date and time. If adjustments are needed:
- Use the r/q buttons to adjust the date and time.
- Confirm each setting by pressing s.
04. Enter Programming Mode
- Press s to enter the programming mode.
- Navigate using r/q to select PROGRAMM.
05. Program a New Schedule
- Select NEU to create a new program.
- Choose the channel (A/B/C/D) you want to program:
- Channel A: LED lights
- Channel B: Fans
- Channel C: Optional devices
- Channel D: Water pump
- Confirm by pressing s.
06. Set the Switching Times
- Select EIN (ON) or AUS (OFF) using r/q buttons and confirm with s.
- Set the hour using r/q buttons and confirm with s.
- Set the minute using r/q buttons and confirm with s.
- To set additional switching times, repeat the above steps.
07. Assign Days of the Week
- Use r/q to select each day of the week.
- For each day, choose JA (yes) or NEIN (no) and confirm with s.
08. Save and Exit
- To save the program, select ENDE and confirm with s.
- The timer will return to the automatic mode.
09. Manual Switching (if needed)
- To manually switch a channel ON or OFF temporarily, press the corresponding channel button.
- The manual switch is indicated by a hand symbol and remains until the next programmed switching time.
10. Permanent Switching
- To permanently switch a channel ON or OFF, press and hold the corresponding channel button for more than 3 seconds.
- The permanent switch remains until manually changed again.
05. VeggerConnect App
FlaxFarm users can use the VeggerConnect App for receiving notifications about:
- Harvest time
- Water tank refilling
- Maintenance reminders
The VeggerConnect App, available on both Android and iOS, also allows users to:
- Order PlantPods
- Organize plant types within the FlaxFarm
- Contact customer service
- Report issues
Additional Notes
01. Filters and Cleaning
Ensure water filters are cleaned every three months to maintain system efficiency.
02. Safety Precautions
- Do not tamper with electrical components or settings unless authorized.
- Follow all safety instructions to prevent accidents or damage to the system.
